It's A Dachshunds' World!

I'm a proud fur baby mom!
Please meet my Franco.  His Name Is Short for Frankfurtur! lol :D  I am so fortunate to have been able to adopt my little dachshund.  He is the most adorable, intelligent, loyal, protecting and sometimes bold pup ever.

Here he is below when he was a wee little puppy that was featured on his breeder's website.  What an adorable little angel, don't you think?  Sure.  He can be a devil dog sometimes, but I knew what I was getting into when I read up on the breed before I made my final choice.  What do you expect?  They are German Hunting dogs!  I wanted a little cornuto 3:) to be honest. lol

Here he is below protecting me from the birds and squirrels lol.  The other two pics are of when we were at the Harbour Front walking around the lovely Aqua Condo.  He's just so cute that I can't help but always hug him and spoil him!  They say that pets help you live a bit longer because they make you feel happier and I believe it.

I feed him Wellness Core grain free that I buy at PetSmart.  I give him organic pumpkin seeds as treats and once in a while carrots, cheese and peanut butter too.  He loves home cooking so I feed him less kibble and allow him to eat veggies to keep him in check.  Sometimes I will make him scambled eggs and peas, or spaghetti squash/zoodles (zucchini noodles) and homemade meatballs, or chicken with carrots or broccoli as a meal replacement to his kibble and he loves it so much.  Doxies are known for over eating and if you are weak it's best to not to adopt them.  Remember Obie the obese dachshund.  He was rescued from a senior couple that either couldn't say no or didn't remember they feed him.  He is doing great now with his rescue owner Nora!  I follow them on my family and hobby Facebook.

Franco is very well trained and is totally potty trained which is very hard to do from what I read.  The trick to training a dachshund is with positive reinforcement and treats.  They are super smart and will not usually do anything you want unless there is something in it for them.

He has traveled some too and even flew to Nova Scotia thanks to WestJet and Shirpa.

Then there are the fabulous doxy meet ups and events like Woofstock too.  When I attend Doxy Meets I am often surrounded by even more of them!  It's such a wonderful thing!  We also have been to a couple Toronto Wolfstock events that were pretty amazing too.

Visited The Wonderful Royal Ontario Museum / ROM

For two adults the general admission plus an exhibit came out to $87.00 taxes included so around $43.50 each but I felt it was well worth it.  I've been to the ROM a couple times before and it keeps getting better!  The only thing I would have changed is that we could photograph pieces in the exhibit. I do understand though because they want more people to come and don't want their treasures to be spoiled.

'Tis The Season For Giving To Those In Need

It's a must that I donate to some of my local charities this time of year so that some that are in need don't go without.  Seems that some are a bit lost in gift giving to those that often have so much already, and it's usually for very expensive things, that they don't need either, so that those really in need continue to want for the littlest of things.  I don't want to preach to anyone at all.  To each his own.  However, for myself, I like to give modest gifts this time of year to only a few people that I am close to, so that I can donate more.  I already gave to the Daily Bread Food Bank and they had 3 lovely e cards that you can send as gifts to those that you wish to make the donation in the name of.  The one I selected is above.  It shows others that you haven't forgotten them at Christmas and hopefully they will follow your example.   Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  Best to those kind people in 2015! Warmest Rega...

Niagara Falls, Ontario Power Plant & Floral Showhouse

I love Niagara Falls, both the Canadian and American sides.  Not only do you have one of the natural wonders of the world but the is so much amazingness there too from attractions, to parks, to restaurants and much more!  I'm so blessed to live only an hour and a half by car.  This past time we specifically went to visit two attractions and the falls.  First we went to see The Niagara Power Plant that includes the fabulous Tunnel where you can see the falls so close at a different vantage point. Then we went to the lovely Floral Showhouse too.  We only went for the day.  We then grabbed a burger at We The Fine (WTF) Burger and it was so good.  I highly recommend it all!  I've been going to Niagara since I was a baby!  My parents loved going there too.  They are originally from the South of Italy and everyone from there that visits Buffalo or Ontario or both makes it a point to visit Niagara Falls.  They definitely aren't wrong! ...
